OFF WHITE x Air Jordan 1 “UNC” Arriving in 2018

It’s been no secret that Virgil Abloh has had a phenomenal 2017. His clothing brand, OFF WHITE, has soared into new heights. Having done numerous collaborations with other brands, one could say that his partnership with Nike has been his biggest one yet and has pushed him high above the stratosphere in the fashion world. If you weren’t aware, Nike and OFF WHITE teamed up to release a special collaboration called “The Ten” collection. This collection of shoes featured 10 of Nike’s most iconic designs (nine if you still want to treat Converse as a separate entity) and remixed with a little bit of OFF-WHITE minimalism and labeling. The model that arguably had everyone salivating over was the Air Jordan 1. This classic silhouette was taken from its traditional roots, deconstructed and brought back to life with a different set of rules for the playground.

For starters, the medial side gets rid of the Swoosh in favor of OFF WHITE branding that reads ” Off-White TM for NIKE “AIR JORDAN 1″ Beverton, Oregon USA c. 1985” (Nike is headquarter in Beaverton). Although that may be the case, if you take a closer look, you will notice that the perforation/stitch holes of the Swoosh are still intact. The lateral side of the shoe does have a Swoosh on it, but it appears to only be connected to the shoe by the visible Blue stitching noted on both ends of the Swoosh. When it comes to construction, it appears as if leather, suede and mesh are all in play. The shoe will also come with a total of four different lace options, a frayed White tongue and various words in double quotation marks (including AIR on the midsole and SHOELACES on the laces).

In 2018, OFF WHITE and Nike will be teaming up again to release another pair (we might be getting TWO pairs next year if the rumors are true) Air Jordan 1s. This time, however, they will be paying tribute to Michael Jordan’s alma mater, The University of North Carolina. No images of the model have leaked yet but an idea of how it would look like is featured above. Retailing for a price of $190, look for the Off-White x Air Jordan 1 in white/university blue at select Jordan Brand stores and online in 2018. As always, thank you for visiting The Jordan Rack.
