Air Jordan 3 “Tinker Hatfield” Is in the Works

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 3. Over the weekend, Jordan Brand invited members of the media to Los Angeles in order to show the state of the Air Jordan. With three of them on display, including the coveted “Black Cement” Air Jordan 3 (with the Nike Air branding), the future is certainly bright. One pair of threes in particular that were eye-catching are dubbed the Air Jordan 3 “Tinker Hatfield.” Certainly, the first thing you may notice is that giant swoosh on the side. This was Hatfield’s early sketch of the Air Jordan 3. Tinker’s original vision for his first Air Jordan shoe did indeed have a swoosh and Nike logos on the upper, but the final product obviously shed the branding for a simpler aesthetic.

The Air Jordan 3 “Tinker Hatfield” is a slight modification of the original “Fire Red” colorway, adding light grey mudguards, black upper midsoles, grey “NIKE” on the medial side, and of course a black swoosh. Tinker’s autograph is engraved onto the tongue of as well as the insole, while the famed Nike Air branding returns on the heel. See a detailed look below and stay tuned to The Jordan Rack for the official release on March 24th.
