The Nike Air Raid was a staple of the 90s. A rugged-looking basketball shoe, it had a thicker and more durable sole in order to combat the asphalt in outdoor courts and have less wear-and-tear. With two straps criss-crossing, they let ballers get ready for flight. The Air Raid also inspired another shoe, one we a know well.
The Air Jordan 8 has mostly been a hit with fans since its inception in 1993. Two straps criss-crossing on the shoe, as well as a thicker sole provided the protection it needed for outdoor balling. Jordan Brand is celebrating the connection between the two by releasing the Air Jordan 8 “Tinker.” The sneaker uses a black nubuck and woven materials as the base, while a colorful array of colors hits arrive on the tongue patch and plastic midfoot embellishments. Green takes over the lining of the shoe and a yellow “Live Together” text on the heel tab finishes the shoe off. Expect these special AJ8s to release December 22nd — just in time for Christmas.
